Veg Satay: Grilled Skewers of Flavorful Tofu 2023

Veg Vegetarian Satay 

Grilled skewers of marinated tofu or mock meat, served with peanut sauce. Here's a recipe for Vegetarian Satay:


  • 1 block of firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
  • 1/2 cup of soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup of coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp of turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp of cumin powder
  • 1 tbsp of coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp of garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup of peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1 tbsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp of lime juice
  • 1 tbsp of brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp of chili flakes

  1. In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, coconut sugar, vegetable oil, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and garlic powder. Add in the cubed tofu and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight in the fridge.
  2. Thread the tofu onto skewers.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the skewers for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are lightly charred.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the peanut butter, water, soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, and chili flakes to make the peanut sauce.
  5. Serve the vegetarian satay with the peanut sauce for dipping. Enjoy!
