Easy Chana Pulao Recipe
Here is an Easy Chana Pulao Recipe (chickpea pilaf):
Ingredients:
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 cup chickpeas (soaked overnight and drained)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small tomato, finely chopped
- 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- Chopped cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
- wash the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in a bowl of water for 30 minutes. Drain the rice and set it aside.
- In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the cumin seeds and coriander seeds and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the onion, tomato, and bell pepper and cook for 5-6 minutes until the vegetables are soft.
- Add the chickpeas, garam masala, chili powder (if using), and salt to the pot. Stir well to combine.
- Add the drained rice and 2 cups of water to the pot. Stir well to combine.
- Increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
- Simmer the pulao for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the water has been absorbed.
- Fluff the pulao with a fork and garnish with chopped cilantro. Serve hot.
