Vanilla Ice Cream is a classic and delicious frozen dessert that is perfect for any occasion. This recipe is a basic recipe for making homemade vanilla ice cream that can be customized with different flavorings and mix-ins.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the cream, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Once churned, transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
- Once firm, scoop and serve the ice cream.
Note: You can add different flavorings such as chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit to the mixture before churning for added flavor.
Note: You can also make ice cream without an ice cream maker by pouring the chilled mixture into a plastic container and freezing it for 2 hours. Remove it from the freezer and stir it vigorously with a fork or whisk to break up the ice crystals. Repeat this process every 30 minutes for 2-3 hours or until the ice cream is the desired consistency.
