Aloo fries recipe
Aloo fries (also known as aloo bhaji or potato fritters) are a delicious snack made from sliced potatoes that are coated in a spiced chickpea flour batter and deep-fried until golden and crispy. Here is a simple recipe for making Aloo fries recipe at home:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups chickpea flour (besan)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp red chili powder (optional)
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp ajwain seeds
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- Water, as needed
- 2 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- Oil, for frying
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the chickpea flour, salt, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chili powder (if using), garam masala, and ajwain seeds.
- Add enough water to the dry mixture to make a smooth, thick batter.
- Heat a deep-fryer or a large pot filled with oil over medium-high heat.
- Dip the potato slices into the batter, making sure they are well coated.
- Carefully place the battered potatoes into the hot oil and fry them in batches until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- Remove the pakoras from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate.
