Coconut Chutney Recipe
Recipe for Coconut Chutney - Made with fresh coconut, cilantro, and green chili. A classic accompaniment to dosa and idli.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup grated fresh coconut
- 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped
- 1/2 inch piece of ginger, chopped
- 1/4 cup roasted chana dal
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- For tempering:
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- A few curry leaves
Instructions:
- In a blender, add the grated coconut, cilantro, green chilies, ginger, roasted chana dal, cumin seeds, and salt. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed to get a smooth consistency.
- Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl.
- In a small pan, heat the oil for tempering. Add the mustard seeds and curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds start to pop, pour the tempering over the chutney.
- Stir the tempering into the chutney and serve with dosa or idli.
