Ingredients:

  • 1 cup grated fresh coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2-3 green chilies, chopped
  • 1/2 inch piece of ginger, chopped
  • 1/4 cup roasted chana dal
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • For tempering:
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • A few curry leaves

Instructions:

  1. In a blender, add the grated coconut, cilantro, green chilies, ginger, roasted chana dal, cumin seeds, and salt. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed to get a smooth consistency.
  2. Transfer the chutney to a serving bowl.
  3. In a small pan, heat the oil for tempering. Add the mustard seeds and curry leaves. Once the mustard seeds start to pop, pour the tempering over the chutney.
  4. Stir the tempering into the chutney and serve with dosa or idli.
