  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 2 tablespoons mirin

  1. Drain the tofu and wrap it in a clean kitchen towel. Place a weight, such as a heavy skillet, on top of the tofu to press out excess water for about 10-15 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, prepare the sauce by mixing the soy sauce, mirin, sake or white wine, and sugar in a small bowl.
  3. Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Cut the tofu into slices about 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Brush the tofu slices with oil and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Grill the tofu slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side until lightly browned and grill marks are visible.
  7. While the tofu is grilling, sauté the sliced bell peppers and onions in a separate pan until tender.
  8. Once the tofu is done grilling, place it on a plate and top it with the sautéed vegetables.
  9. Pour the sauce over the tofu and vegetables, and serve immediately.
