  • 1 cup black chickpeas (kala chana), soaked overnight and boiled
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 tbsp tamarind chutney
  • 1 tbsp mint chutney
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1/4 cup sev (crispy gram flour noodles)
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds (optional)
  • Lemon juice, to taste

Kala Chana Chaat recipe at Home


  1. In a mixing bowl, combine boiled black chickpeas, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, green chili (if using), tamarind chutney, mint chutney, chaat masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add sev and pomegranate seeds and toss to combine.
  3. Squeeze lemon juice over the chaat and mix well.
  4. Serve the Kala Chana Chaat in a bowl or on a plate and garnish with additional sev, cilantro, and pomegranate seeds.
  5. Enjoy your Kala Chana Chaat!

Note: you can also add some boiled potatoes, it will give it a different texture and taste.
