 Churumuri (Puffed Rice Snack)

Churumuri is a popular street food in South India that is made with puffed rice and various spices. Here is a recipe for making  Churumuri (Puffed Rice Snack):


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups puffed rice
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped cucumber
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped carrots
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp roasted peanuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the puffed rice, onions, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, cilantro, salt, sugar, red chili powder, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  2. Add the roasted peanuts and mix again.
  3. Serve the churumuri immediately.

Note: You can add other vegetables like bell peppers, boiled chickpeas, fresh grated coconut, or some sev (crushed gram flour noodles) to give it a different flavor.
