Hakka Noodles recipe
Hakka Noodles is a popular Chinese-Indian dish that is made with stir-fried noodles and vegetables. Here's a recipe for making Hakka Noodles at home:
Ingredients:
- 250g. Hakka noodles or chow mein noodles
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp ginger, minced
- 1 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup finely sliced onion
- 1/2 cup finely sliced bell peppers
- 1/2 cup finely sliced cabbage
- 1/2 cup finely sliced carrots
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp green onions, thinly sliced
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, rinse with cold water and set aside.
- Heat a pan or wok over high heat and add the oil. Once hot, add the ginger and garlic and sauté for a few seconds, until fragrant.
- Add the onion, bell peppers, cabbage, and carrots and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes, or until they are tender.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, salt, and pepper.
- Add the sauce to the pan and stir to coat the vegetables.
- Add the cooked noodles and toss to combine.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the noodles are heated through.
- Turn off the heat and add the green onions.
- Serve hot and garnish with sesame seeds if desired.
You can add or substitute vegetables of your choice, also you can use any kind of protein such as chicken, shrimp, or tofu to make it more filling. You can also add chilli sauce or chilli flakes to give it a spicy flavor.
Hakka noodles are also known for its unique savory and bit of sweet flavor, you can add some sugar or ketchup to give it that traditional taste.
