Naan recipe no yogurt
Naan is a popular Indian flatbread that is traditionally made with yogurt and requires a tandoor oven or special clay oven to cook. Here is a Naan recipe no yogurt:
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup warm milk
- 2 tbsp oil
- Additional flour for dusting
- Ghee or butter for brushing on top of the naan
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
- Add the warm milk and oil to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into equal-sized balls.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out each ball of dough into a round or oval shape.
- Heat up a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Once the skillet is hot, place the rolled out naan on the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until it starts to puff up and brown slightly.
- Brush the naan with ghee or butter as soon as you take it out of the skillet.
- Repeat the process for the remaining balls of dough.
Note:
Instead of the traditional way of cooking naan on Tandoor, you can use a cast iron skillet or griddle on the stovetop.
You can also use minced garlic or chopped herbs to give it an extra flavor.
Enjoy this delicious and versatile Indian flatbread!
