Gobi manchurian at home
Gobi Manchurian is a popular Indo-Chinese dish made with battered and deep-fried cauliflower florets coated in a spicy, sweet, and tangy sauce. Here is a recipe you can use to make Gobi Manchurian at home:
Ingredients:
- 1 medium head cauliflower
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 cup water
- 2 cups vegetable oil, for frying
For the sauce:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger paste
- 1 green chili, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions:
- Cut the cauliflower into small florets and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, ginger paste, and water. Mix until a smooth batter forms.
- Heat the oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Dip the cauliflower florets into the batter and carefully place them into the hot oil. Fry the florets until they are golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the florets from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- To make the sauce, heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the garlic, ginger, and chili and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and water to the pan. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low.
- In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and water to form a slurry. Add the slurry to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens.
- Add the fried cauliflower florets to the pan and toss to coat them in the sauce.
- Serve the Gobi Manchurian hot, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy!
