Momos Recipe Step By Step and Nutrition information
Momos are a type of dumpling that originated in Nepal but have since become popular throughout South Asia, especially in India and Tibet. They are typically made with a simple dough wrapper and a filling of ground or vegetables. Here is a recipe for vegetarian Momos Recipe Step By Step instructions:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup finely chopped vegetables (such as cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, and mushrooms)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil or butter for cooking
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, mix together the flour and water until a soft dough forms. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- In a separate pan, heat some oil or butter over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and sauté until the onions are translucent.
- Add the vegetables and cook for about 5 minutes, or until they are tender.
- Stir in the soy sauce and vinegar, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove the pan from the heat and let the filling cool.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball out into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle.
- Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape and press the edges together to seal.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil and carefully add the momos to the water. Boil the momos for about 5 minutes, or until they are cooked through and floating on the surface.
- Remove the momos from the water and serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce. Enjoy!
Note: You can also steam the momos instead of boiling them. To do this, place the momos on a steamer tray and steam for about 10 minutes, or until cooked through.
